VOID @ Cafe 1001 Sunday 7th April 2013

This is going to be brief...

VOID was great. 2pm-10pm on a Sunday. Usually this would mean I am holed up on the sofa after a Saturday night out, and with the best will in the world I may make it to an early Sunday after party but ANOTHER party after that is a bit much for me these days. However, if you have can handle a full 48hr clubbing weekend this is the place to end it. And if you are being a boring sensible techno head who appreciates the odd weekend doing normal daylight hour things once in a while - this is the event that allows you to go do your shopping, see the family and then stomp it out before work, leaving you with no sleep deprivation and a sense of total oneness with yourself that you have somehow managed to "do it all." It's a win win.

Is it just me or is this slightly reminiscent of Berghain????

Easter Weekend 2013: Ostgut Ton - 50 Weapons Showcase & Paul Kalkbrenner

Well done to the promoters of this night for the fact it ever happened. Nothing like turning up at the venue to set up and being told that the muppets in charge of the place didn't apply for the licence to hold the event!!!

With less than 24hrs notice the whole party had moved from Peckham Palais in the deepest darkest depth of Saaarf London to The Coronet in Elephant & Castle. I was pretty chuffed actually as it's a damn site nearer to home for us and cut down travel time and expense by a bucketload.

Plex, Brandt Brauer Frick, Siro-A and RAM

Well we were off to a good start with this blog but my work life balance has somewhat shifted the past few weeks and I have failed to get to any techno!

I was due to go to Plex a couple of Fridays ago but got home from work via the pub and fell asleep on the sofa in a cider haze at 10pm, waking up at 3am having missed the whole thing.

Closer with Chris Liebing 6hr set Sat 23rd February 2013

Last Saturday myself and DSL took K-dubbaya out for her birthday. K-dubbaya loves techno. I met her at Lost about 10 years ago through a mutual friend but we only really became friends when she needed a cat sitter for a few days for her new stray cat pet that was preggers. I ended up with 2 of the kittens and a new techno chum who bonded over teeny paws and a summer of epic boyfriend troubles and wine drinking.

It was a special night as K- dubbaya barely ever gets to party these days. She works (quite a marvelous chef) and studies (what she can't tell you about your insides and food is not worth knowing) and to get her on a dance floor these days is a feat in itself. If she could be out with us every week she would be. But she can't, so she isn't and so Saturday we had to pack in as much dancing as humanly possible in 6hrs. It proved slightly more difficult to complete this task that anticipated given that there was some excellent music and three very willing participants.

Blueprint @ Cable Sat 15th Feb 2013

It was a tough old week in the lead up to Blueprint.
We lost a dear friend who died previous weekend and will be sorely missed by all who knew him – RIP David Hills, AKA Dave Saunders. I can’t claim to have known Dave well at all having only spent one evening and some light hearted facebook chat in his company, but others in our techno posse have been friends with Dave for many years – run club nights with him, partied with him and been his close friend through thick and thin. Never a sad face or a dull moment in Dave’s company and his FB wall alone is testament to the amazing life he led and the huge number of gobsmacked people who are stunned and saddened by his death.

Sat 2nd / Sun 3rd Feb 2013, Melt & Jaded

Welcome to the first post in Abbi's Adventures! I like techno; I like writing. Voila.

A slightly late start to the year - after a much needed January break 2013 clubbing kicked off with an epic weekend. A huge group of us were out to celebrate DA's birthday and he & SL's imminent departure to live in Australia; others were out purely to dance about and then there were the crazy folks who just couldn't let us go out without them...even though they had a 6am flight to go snowboarding.
